Actors sacrifice a lot for their craft but we're not sure any role, however amazing, is worth living on 500 calories a day for! That's apparently what Anne Hathaway has limited herself to to take on the lead in 'Les Miserables'.
The actress is reportedly on a mission to drop two dress sizes in time for her 'Les Miserables' death scenes. The 29-year-old plays Fantine in the big screen adaptation of the hit musical, who's meant to be a destitute factory worker and prostitute.
In a bid to get the emancipated look of her character Anne is said to be surviving on just two apples a day and a protein shake. A source has told the Daily Mirror:
"She only has 15 to 20 days to lose as much weight as possible - up to a stone-and-a-half (21lbs) - because she's been filming the scenes showing her fit and healthy, almost slightly chubby."
''It's not ideal but, as with any high-budget movie, there are strict time constraints.''
It sounds like it's a stressful time for Anne at the moment who is also reportedly having problems organising her wedding to Adam Shulman.
The source from 'Les Miserables' insists though that producers of the film are keeping a close eye on the actress' health saying:
''Anne knows the risk of such an extreme diet and will undergo weekly medicals to make sure everything is still functioning as it should do.''
The film also stars a host of other talent including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried and Helena Bonhma Carter and is scheduled for release in January next year.
