The Muppets film, which stormed the box office last month, featured a cover of Nirvana’s famous tune Smells Like Teen Spirit. The Muppets teamed up with Jack Black for an excerpt from the classic tune, but not everyone found the stunt funny.
Kurt’s ex wife Courtney has told TMZ that the film-makers Disney have 'raped' the memory of Cobain by using the track. Courtney maintains that she holds the rights to Kurt’s songs and has ultimate power over whether to approve the use of them for commercial purposes.
But TMZ report that Love sold off half the rights of Cobain's catalogue to a company called Primary Wave Music. It’s this company that are said to have approved The Muppet’s use of the song, they are also said to have got permission from the two surviving members of Nirvana, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.
We don’t understand how anyone can be angry at Kermit and co....
