It looks as though Britney Spears is going to have to wait a little while longer before she dons a white meringue style dress and walks down the aisle to fiance Jason Trawick, following the reports that her lawyers want to sort out her lawsuit with her former manager, Sam Lufti before she ties the knot.
According to Radar Online, Sam is suing Britney for breach of contract and her parents, Jamie and Lyn Spears for defamation and libel, the trial for which will begin September 11.
Due to Britney's conservatorship, which has been in place following a series of public meltdowns in 2008, the 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' singer's lawyers have so far managed to make sure that the star has not been deposed or called in as a witness in the lawsuit .
However, her lawyers believe that could all change if she got married before the trial ended.
A source revealed: "Lawyers for Britney's conservatorship have been successful in keeping her from being deposed in the Lutfi litigation. She could get married under the conservatorship, but the judge would have to sign off on it.
"If that were to happen, lawyers repping Lutfi would absolutely go into court and argue that if Britney were able to get married, she should be able to be deposed. There is no way Team Spears is going to let that happen."
Despite having to put her wedding on hold, the source added that Britney is still planning away!
They added: "The wedding will most likely be a very low key affair, and could take place in Britney's hometown in Louisiana, at her mansion in Kentwood. Jason is fully embracing having the wedding in Louisiana. Britney has hired a wedding planner and is letting the pro handle all the details.
"Unless a settlement is reached with Lutfi before the trial date, the wedding will take place after the lawsuit is resolved."
