Olly Murs has been told by Simon Cowell to choose between his music and TV career as he is not allowed time off from Xtra Factor for performances.

The 27 year-old is hoping to launch an international music career this summer and if successful will be performing dates across Europe and the US but the Syco boss has put his foot down and said no.

According to The Mirror, Olly said: “I really want to do it but when I asked Simon if I could just do the live shows, he said, ‘No, it wouldn’t be possible’.”

The ‘Heart Skipped A Beat’ singer has seen his career sky rocket since the release of his second album ‘In Cast You Didn’t Know’ last November, which managed to keep global superstar Rihanna off the top spot.

The Essex lad proved a popular presenter of The X Factor ITV show, Xtra Factor which he co-hosted with celebrity cougar Caroline Flack.

The 32 year-old is clear which one she wants the singer to choose as the presenter declared she won’t work with anyone but him.

Caroline revealed: “They asked me if I’d consider presenting with someone else. But... that’d feel just weird – I love Olly!”

Olly put in a crowd-pleasing performance at this week's Brit Awards but wasn't as impressed with the length of Blur's acceptance speech. The singer revealed later he thought it "went on a bit".
