Denzel Washington stars as a rogue CIA operative in his new movie ‘Safe House’ and the actor has revealed that it’s not exactly clear who the good guys in the film are, as the intelligence world is a “dirty business”.
In an effort to make the movie as realistic as possible, controversial tactics like rendition and water boarding are used by government agents during torture scenes.
Speaking to Entertainmentwise, the 'Training Star' said: “It’s a dirty business. Who knows what they do we don’t know what they do.”
“We know that we want to be protected and we claim that we want them to be fair and don’t torture people but you know I think that when 911 happened, 912 in New York everybody was for torture they wanted them to get to the bottom of whoever it was," he added.
The director Daniel Espinosa insisted that the compromise of ethics was the core struggle of the movie.
He revealed: “These people that get into this line of business they go there out of ethical reasons in the beginning. But what they are forced to do, for their country or for what they believe in sometimes are highly unethical acts.”
The 57 year-old actor also revealed how the intense fighting scenes gave him his first ever black eye courtesy of co-star Ryan Reynolds .
