Seinfeld star Daniel Von Bargen was rushed to hospital after he tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head.
The actor, who played Mr Kruger during the hit series, had to call emergency services earlier this week, reports TMZ.
During the phone call to 911, the actor said: "I've shot myself in the head... and I need help."
It was when the emergency operator asked the screen star what happened that it emerged that the incident had not been an accident.
The diabetic actor didn't want to go to the hospital, where the doctors were going to remove his toes.
"I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn't want to. They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes," before adding: "I shot in my temple."
