Cardiff is playing host to the set of Doctor Who once again and, this series round, we'll be saying a very special goodbye to two of our fave characters...
Matt Smith has stuck on his bowtie and leapt aboard the Tardis with Amy and Rory, played by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. But it seems as if the Doctor will be bidding the awesome twosome a sad farewell, as the actor and actress have both scored new jobs elsewhere.
And, for fans of the show, you'll definitely have your interest piqued when you ehar that their final episode will be an utterly "heartbreaking" one.
The pair have been with the show since 2010 and found huge success as fans of the cult sci fi show took them to their hearts. Karen Gillan has been papped every which way as a fashion icon and recently picked up a national television award for her role as Amy Pond. And she's very sad to be leaving after some of the best years of her life:
"It's just brilliant to be back on the Tardis with Matt and Arthur for our craziest adventures yet."
Darvill, better known as Amy's doting husband Rory, is following in an old Doctor's footsteps; just like David Tennant before him, he's heading to Shakespeare. And he's already in rehearsals for the Globe's first production of Christopher Marlowe's tragedy, Dr Faustus.
We wonder what Matt Smith will do without the pair at his side? He's already confirmed what we already knew; the trio are inseparable on set:
"It's thrilling and exciting to be back and working with two of my closest friends."
We'll be sure to look our hankies out for the final episodes, due to air later this year...
