Ryan Giggs Sues The Sun For Damages Following Affair Reports

And so the saga continues...

Manchester United is still fuming over reports suggesting that he had been the married man having an affair with Imogen Thomas and has now taken The Sun to court to claim damages.

The father of two wasn't at the high court hearing in London, but he has consented to the lifting of the injunction and now is trying to seek damages after the newspaper printing of its original information, which he then claimed "generated a large media storm".

Representing Giggs was Hugh Tomlinson QC, and he told the court: "The claimant's name is in the public domain contrary to court order. The claimant has consented to the removal of the anonymity order completely.

"He has suffered damage and distress by the chain of events that has been set off by the publication of the article in The Sun. We say the printing of information on the front page of a national newspaper can give rise to an action for misuse of private information."

The injunction was lifted on February 1 but an "administrative error" by solicitors meant that the newspaper hadn't been informed of the decision.

Now Giggs is seeking damages and Tomlinson said that it was "providing effective protection" for the footballer and his right to privacy.

Mr Justice Tugendhat did not decide on whether the case should go to trial. Anyone else thinking why is Giggs putting his wife through this again!?

Also, Natasha Giggs revealed that she had an eight-year affair with Ryan, her brother-in-law. And he's the one who needs damages?
