POLL: Should Rihanna Have Collaborated With Chris Brown?

It's fair to say that the latest twist in the ongoing Rihanna/ Chris Brown saga has shocked us all.

We watched as the pair began following each other on Twitter, saw the pictures of them leaving the same club, we even heard the rumours about them being a couple again but today's release of two remixes is a very clear statement. Rihanna and Chris Brown have put their past behind them, so should we?

On the one hand, Chris Brown has served his time and been punished for his crime. He has a criminal record and everyone knows what he did. Technically he can't be punished any more and he is (very successfully) attempting to revive his career. Two of the biggest pop stars in the world collaborating makes perfect sense, and in that light it is no surprise to hear Rihanna lay down her vocals on Brown's new smash hit 'Turn Up The Music'.

However, everyone does know what Brown did to Rihanna just three years ago. They know how he hit her, where he bit her and just what her face looked like when he had finished. This is no ordinary crime, Brown didn't throw a TV out of a window. He was vicious, not reckless and to see victim and abuser cosying up on the 'Birthday Cake' remix which sees him rap “I want to give it to her in the worst way” is extremely uncomfortable. Neither side needs this duet, they're both doing fine on their own, and moreover it begs serious questions of Rihanna's status as a role model. OK, she never positioned herself as a saint and if she wants to gyrate in her pants and sing barely disguised innuendos then fine, but duetting with the man who beat her  up as if it's all fine? Surely that is a bit much.
