Gok Wan, famous for Gok’s Fashion Fix and How To Look Good Naked, is set to swap his stylish threads for, erm, an apron, as he is reportedly about to join the ranks of Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson as a TV chef.
His new Channel 4 show will focus on Chinese food, and he will be joined by a co-presenter, who is none other than his dad, restaurateur and chef John Wan!
An show insider told The Sun’s TV Biz: “Gok can’t wait to fire up his wok and showcase his other great passion in life, Chinese cooking. It will prove he is master of the cleaver as well as the cleavage!”
Will Gok still look stylish in an apron?
Explaining the motivation between swapping fashion for food, he explains that Gok “loves home-cooked Chinese food and over the years has perfected many dishes of his own. He really wants to show Brits who love a good takeaway that true Chinese cookery is faster, healthier and more delicious than anything you can get delivered to your front door."
The six part series will be titled Gok Cooks Chinese, and it’s due to air in May. It’s designed to be a helpful easy-to-follow guide to cooking mouth-watering Chinese food using fresh and simple ingredients.
The show insider added: “He can’t wait to get his dad – who is a Chinese restaurateur and chef – involved too. Gok affectionately calls him Papa Wan and the series will show just how close they are.”
This isn’t the only new show in the pipeline for Gok, as in April, Gok will travel to China to explore why the country is “the new hub of manufacturing.”
