Big Fat Gypsy Weddings has returned to our TVs and in the next episode of the hit Channel 4 series, one of the stars of the show controversially claims that he’s been “forced” into a life of crime because nobody will give him a job.
Exploring the prejudices that come with being a traveller, he says: “If I knock on a door and ask for a job, once they hear my voice, that’s it, they close the door. If an Englishman went, he’d get a job straight away.”
The show is set to ruffle a few feathers as it delves deeper into the gypsy lifestyle, and on the same episode another traveller Brendan boasts that he chooses a life on the wrong side of the law. He also tells the camera that if he got an office job, he’d lose it straight away because he’d steal from his employer.
According to the Daily Star, Brendan has been in prison four times and is actually facing another prison term due to being caught handling stolen goods.
When discussing his trouble with the law, Brendan confesses: “I hate the police and they hate me, but that’s OK…
“Obviously I do my own things to make money.”

Tomorrow’s episode ‘I Fought The Law’ shines a light on gypsy families and their relationship with the law. It features Irish traveller Danielle, a 15-year-old who is planning a lavish hen party, but is facing difficulties as her groom-to-be Brendan, 20, is scheduled to be in court on the same day.
