Aretha Franklin has received criticism after performing in concert just hours after she cancelled her scheduled appearance at Whitney Houston's funeral.

Poor Aretha. The legendary singer had been suffering from intense leg spasms and felt she had to rest up in order to make her concert, rather than travel for the Houston funeral.

However the “undisputed” Queen of Soul was "quick on her feet and feisty in voice" when she made her appearance at the Radio City Music Hall, causing a number of raised eyebrows in the press. Apparently the star looked amazing, even kicking off her shoes to dance and shimmy freely.

The soul legend did make sure she paid her respects in her own special way, dedicating a portion of her show to her goddaughter Whitney.

Performing the iconic Whitney ballad 'I Will Always Love You',  Franklin remembered her goddaughter as "one of the best, greatest singers".

She also took the time to express her sentiment with a brief eulogy:

"I hope that there’s something I will sing, or I have sung, that will lift all of our heavy hearts today... My heart goes out to my dear friend Cissy, Dionne, Bobbi Kristina and the rest of the family. May God keep them all."

God bless Aretha for paying Whitney the R-E-S-P-E-C-T she deserved!
