Whitney Houston's family attended a private viewing at a funeral home in New Jersey yesterday, ahead of today's service.
Her daughter Bobbi Christina Brown, mother Cissy Houston, friend and mentor Clive Davis and cousin Dionne Warwick were in attendance.
Funeral director Caroline Whigham told waiting reporters, including People, that it was carried out "in privacy. It was between a mother, a daughter, two brothers and a family".
A source told the magazine that Bobbi Christina has understandably had a rollercoaster of a week. They said: "There are moments when she is strong and moments when it all hits her. She can't escape it."
The funeral service takes place today.
It has been confirmed by the hateful fundamentalists of the Westboro Baptist Church that they will picket the event.
RIP Whitney Houston
