Nick Cannon has revealed how tough last weekend was for his wife Mariah Carey, as she had to deal with both his own life-threatening health scare and the death of her close friend, Whitney Houston.
Cannon was hospitalised after Christmas for a kidney problem which he initially put down to "exhaustion". He was then rushed back into care last Friday (February 10) after developing blood clots in his lungs and an enlarged right ventricle on his heart.
Whilst at her husband's side, Carey heard of Whitney's passing.
Cannon told E! Online: "It was tough for many reasons. One, knowing how close my wife and Whitney were, and I was in the hospital during the time, and that's where we got the news.
"I was kinda in a life-threatening situation and then to see that, it was kind of bizarre and sad at the same time, but you know, it's part of life and it makes you step back and reflect and appreciate every day for what it is."
Mariah pulled out of a TV interview on Valentine's Day to cope with her grief.
She duetted with Houston on the 1998 ballad 'When You Believe'.
