Simon Cowell has taken to Twitter ahead of The X Factor USA returning to our TV screens, to declare that he wants to host a sing-off between the next winners of The X Factor, American Idol and The Voice.
The TV talent show mogul wrote: "We have a few surprises to announce soon. This is getting interesting... Maybe the winner of @TheXFactorUSA this yr should compete with winner of The Voice & Idol in a super final. Just a thought. I'd be up for it."
Although the idea got a warm reaction from excited fans, American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe seemed less than impressed with Simon’s attention-grabbing antics, tweeting back: "@simoncowell suggests the IDOL winner should take on the Voice and X-Factor winners. The problem is the Idol winner will be a star by then."
American Idol is already mid-season, but it has been reported that a third season of The Voice may run in the Autumn, which would put it in direct scheduling competition with The X Factor, although NBC who broadcasts The Voice has stated that "no final decisions have been made" regarding the show's future scheduling.
We think a sing-off between The Voice, American Idol and The X Factor would be ratings gold! Would you tune in?
