Following last week’s dramatic collapse of American Idol hopeful Symone Black, who fell off the stage in front of the judges during the stressful Hollywood Week auditions, another two Idol hopefuls have fainted.
It seems that the pressure is getting to everyone, especially Jacquie Cera, who passed out as she and her fellow competitors were preparing to perform during the group round. After the incident, Jacquie told host Ryan Seacrest: “All of a sudden I stared tingling everywhere.”
The singer bravely composed herself in time for the audition, however her performance was below par and the judges eliminated Jacquie for her lacklustre performance.
A second hopeful also found that the stress was too much to deal with and collapsed not once, but twice.
Imani Handy first passed out during rehearsals, and then fainted for a second time mid-way through her performance. As she unexpectedly fell, her mother, Ryan Seacrest and the medics all rushed to the stage to help.
After a short time Imani came to, only to hear from Jennifer Lopez that they were sending her home, despite the young hopeful pleading with the judges to let her stay in the competition.
The ‘Idol Bug’ has affected many of the American Idol contestants this year, causing vomiting and fainting, which has intensified the pressure of the competition, as many struggle to cope with the physical and emotional rigours of the show.
