Just hours before Whitney Houston was going to attend Clive David's pre-Grammy party, the singer was found dead in the bath and the record executive did not cancel the star-studded bash, leaving her family in "shock".
Stars including Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rowland, Britney Spears and more attended the event, while Whitney's body lay upstairs on the fourth floor at the Beverly Hilton hotel and her daughter Bobbi Kristina was "inconsolable".
But Clive Davis, Whitney's mentor and friend continued with the party just hours after learning of her death. Houston's family, who gathered in Davis's room following the 'I Will Always Love You' singer's death, had no idea that he was going to go ahead with the party.
"The mood in Davis's suite was just of pure shock," The Sun quotes a US source as saying. "Bobbi Kristina was absolutely inconsolable. She was rocking back and forth on the couch, crying hysterically. Clive was already dressed in his tux and most of Whitney's family was dressed for the party.
"Whitney's aunt, Mary Jones, was absolutely stunned. She was very upset that it hadn't been cancelled."
At the party, Davis said: "I personally [feel] devastated by the loss of someone who has meant so much to me. She was full of life, looking forward for tonight. She loved music and she loved this night that celebrated music."
