Chris Brown isn't having a great week. Sure, he won his first ever Grammy Award, but the response has been less than favourable.
And now Twitter has "killed" him.
One of the hottest trending topics on Twitter is "RIP Chris Brown" - is this because the Hip Hop singer was allowed to appear at the Grammy's this year, despite his ban after brutally beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna?
For some, it would appear that this is indeed the case:
"Even @thegrammys can't ignore RIP Chris Brown trending. You were wrong to have him on. Apologize, please!"
Some of the Tweets alongside the tag are obviously intended as a tongue-in-cheek joke, making light of Chris Brown ruining his own career with his behaviour:
"Chris Brown Isn't Dead, But His Twitter Handle Almost Is"
"RIP Chris Brown, punched to death by a 100 ft mechanical Rihanna. karma owns"
However, some of the Tweets sharing the tag are, quite simply, very disturbing:
"RIP Chris Brown. If only."
So yes, Chris Brown is an idiot. But is it ever funny to joke about killing someone? The RIP tag appeared shortly after the singer took to his Twitter account a few hours and said the following:
"HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F*** OFF."
Not very classy behaviour, we admit, but, agian, the RIP tag is becoming a disturbing new trend in social networking. From Bon Jovi to Snooki, the public are able to write the news they want to see, spreading rumours like wildfire. And is that ever a good thing?
As one response Tweet said:
"RIP Chris Brown is a sad trend, twitter needs to stop killing people, death's not a joke, and unless someone dies don't trend"
Is this an amusing response to Chris Brown's poor recent behaviour or simply in bad taste? We're still unsure. Let us know your thoughts below...
