Coldplay front man Chris Martin feels the band don't stand a chance up against Adele in the Album of the Year category at next week's BRIT awards ceremony.

The 'Paradise' singer conceded defeat in an interview with BBC Radio 2's Jo Whiley.

"Unless Adele somehow deletes her albums, I think we can come to the conclusion that [we won't win anything]. I'm pretty sure of it," he said.

Martin did however reveal the band are glad to be nominated.

"You can be one of those artists that don't really care about them or you can, like us, love it, and we're always so grateful to be included.

Adding, "It's a kind of Olympics for a band; it's nice to win a medal."

The band won't be a part of Entertainmentwise's best or worst dressed gallery at the star studded show, with Coldplay set to avoid posing for the cameras.

"We love these things (award shows) but red carpets are more for nice ladies. We look like the cleaners coming in to vacuum up!"

Coldplay are also up for British Album of the Year and the Best British Group award.
