Downton Abbey actress Elizabeth McGovern has claimed that the show, which has proved to be a huge success in both the UK and US, can't "run forever."
Believing that the show should end before it loses it's quality, the Mirror reports the actress, who plays Lady Cora in the ITV1 period drama, as saying:
"I don’t think Downton can run for forever and I would hate to see it running past its sell-by date.
“I think the intention is to keep it going for as long as we feel that it’s really good and giving the audience what they deserve.
She added: "When it really starts not living up to its own ambition then I’d like to call it a day.”
Revealing that the new series is going to be a good one, Elizabeth said: "I’ve read the first five episodes and it’s going to be good.
"I can’t wait for Shirley to join. I think she’s one of the greats.”
