US gleeks last night saw Amber Riley perform the late Whitney Houston's iconic song 'I Will Always Love You'.

The star, who plays Mercedes Jones in the hit show, covered the track in the Valentine's Day episode, which was planned before Whitney's tragic death over the weekend.

Following the news of her death, reports revealed earlier this week that Glee bosses would tweak the episode and pay tribute to Whitney, which they did by ending the show with a title card reading:

"Whitney Houston 1963-2012. We will always love you."

Tweeting after watching herself perform the song, Amber wrote: "Ok I got through it, only minimal tears. I hope you are proud Ms. Houston. :) thanks guys for the kind words."

Praising Amber on her performance, Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel tweeted: "'I Will Always Love You,' best part of my life. Ms. Houston is bragging about you in heaven."

By the looks of it Miley Cyrus will never be a gleek: "Honestly, musicals? I just can%u2019t. What if this was real life and I was just walking down the street on Rodeo Drive and all of a sudden I just burst into song about how much I love shoes?"
