Here at Entertainmentwise, we love a good drama that we can really get into, so when we got the opportunity to have a chat with Adrian Pasdar, one of the star's from hit US show, The Lying Game, we jumped at the chance!
The show, follows the life of Emma Becker, a kind-hearted foster child who never seems to get a break. She discovers she has an identical twin sister, Sutton Mercer, who was adopted by wealthy parents and seemingly living an ideal life. After their initial meeting, Sutton talks Emma into stepping into her life for a few days while she pursues a lead on their birth mother. Initially excited to do this favour for her long-lost sister, Emma soon learns Sutton has gone missing and could be in trouble. Emma now has to decide whether to come clean to Sutton’s family and risk her own safety in the hope of uncovering her sister’s true whereabouts, along with the truth about why they were separated in the first place.
Check out what Adrian, who plays Alec Rybak, had to say....
Entertainmentwise: Tell us a bit about The Lying Game.
Adrian Pasdar: The Lying Game is a show that deals with the decisions you make as young man or as a young woman and have it come back to haunt you, either immediately or later in your life and the lies people will tell to cover up their past and how innocent or non innocent those lies may be, they still affect the people that they're misleading. So it's a troupe of people in a small town who are trying to keep their lives stable in the face of some great miss-truths that has been laid upon them. The way the stories interact and unfold and the fate of the individuals involved, it's definitely dramatic. I think it's fun to watch.
Ew: Can you tell us a little bit about your character?
AP: Alec is a district attorney in Scottsdale, Arizona and his past is something that was quite active and I think as a young man, he found himself in a few situations that he might have liked to extricate himself from before they became what they did. He was able to bury the results of a few of his escapades as a young man and they are now coming back to haunt him and his best friend, Ted Mercer (who played David Wallace in The Office) so the two of them have to cover their tracks a bit in their middle age so as not to adversely affect their present state.

Ew: So what made you take on the role?
AP: They just paid me so much money, I couldn't say no (laughs)...I'm just trying to come up with the spiciest answer I could. actually, its a good part. that's what it was.
Ew: You've done a few shows like Heros and Desperate Housewives, how does The Lying Game differ.
AP: Yeah, everything I've done, I think has been different to the thing that has preceded it. It's an opportunity to tell a story that I haven't been a part of before, like the consequences of the behaviour made by a young man making some decisions that might have been foolish at the time and having to deal with those repercussions later in life. It's a role I haven't tackled yet and it's one that I'm interested in playing and I think it's being well told on this show.
Ew:There's a lot of teen programmes out at the moment, like 90210 and Gossip Girl, so how do you think The Lying Game is different?
AP: Well the girls and the boys in our show - as handsome and beautiful as they are - there's a depth to them that transcends the teen thing that a lot of the shows are going for. We have a really good cast, they're really good folk and Alexandra Chando (who plays both Emma and Sutton), our lead is an exceptional actress, she's got that power and to work with her is one of the best parts of the show. The talent we're dealing with here is beyond just you know, pretty girls in short skirts and guys without their shirt on. It's not that kind of thing, we're dealing with real talent.

Ew: Who are you closet to on set?
AP: All of them...I like everyone equally.
Ew: What would you like to happen with your character as the series progresses?
AP: Well I know where it's going as I speak with the producers so I know what we're about. I've been a part of the progress of the plot and I am not at liberty to say where it's going, but what I can tell you is that it's genuine and the people that are writing this show are so talented. We've had a great time together creating the direction for the character.. I think one of the important things to deal with on a television programme is tackling the real questions that would face a person in the decision that they're in and that's what we're doing in the show.
Ew: What do your UK viewers have to look forward to with The Lying Game?
AP: Well there's lots of deceit as the title implies and there's a few truths that come out in the course of the show. But one of the best parts is watching Alexandra Chando managing to play two characters at once and she's doing such a great job. I have to say that the best thing to come out of that show is that young lady. She's going to be a force to be dealt with. She's got a career ahead of her.
Ew: How do feel about the comparisons to the film 'Parent Trap'?
AP: Well, twins is a very strong element that you can draw from to make a big drama so comparing it to the 'Parent Trap'? Yeah 'Parent Trap' was a great experience, a great movie for a lot of people. I mean, it's a little bit different, it's a bit darker, but sure it's an honour to be compared to a tremendous success like that. But obviously we're trying to find our own ground.

Ew: You've done Heros, you've done Desperate Housewives and you're doing The Lying Game, what show would you like to do next and who would be your ideal cast?
AP: Well it'd be, Kellan Haussmann, Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton and we'd be sitting around the table telling stories about where we got the best scares on our bodies.
Ew: Thank you Adrian for you're time.
