Brandy has spoken out about the tragic death of Whitney Houston this weekend. The singer, whose brother Ray J was dating the star at the time of her death has said her “heart is destroyed”.
The singer and actress was meant to be singing at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy bash on Saturday night but was so grief stricken she could not take to the stage.
According to US Weekly she really wanted to perform but said: “I’m in a bad space right now."
Brandy was seen comforting her brother Ray J on Saturday night at a pre-Grammy's Midnight Brunch thrown by musician Ne-Yo.
According to TMZ, the 31-year-old rapper was seen trying to calm down Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina in the lobby of the Beverly Hilton hotel moments before news broke of the singer’s death on Saturday afternoon.
Brandy paid tribute to the star at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, she said: “My heart is destroyed. I lost my idol and dear friend. My prayers go out to Whitney's family and her millions of fans around the world.”
Her brother Ray J dated the singer on-off for four years following her split from husband Bobbi Brown.
According to the Daily Mail the star rushed to the hotel after hearing news of the singer’s death and is haunted by a series of missed calls from the multi-award winning singer. The 31 year-old said: “We all gotta live with that.”
