Nobody likes to be upstaged. Least of all the queen of pop, Madonna.
Last week Madonna took to the Super Bowl halftime stage to perform when singer M.I.A decided to give the crowd a one finger salute.
Performing alongside her as well as rapper Nicki Minaj, the incident went unnoticed by Madonna.
The halftime show is notorious for its extravagance and show-stopping costumes but even Madge found this inappropriate.
Speaking on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, she said: “I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it. I understand its punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity it seemed negative. Its such a teenager, irrelevant thing to do, there was such a feeling of love and unity there what was the point? It was just out of place.”
After Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction with Justin Timberlake, the cost for an indecent act on US network NBC is around $325,000. M.I.A’s expletive middle finger could cost as much as $650,000.
