It will go down in history as one of the most cringy appearances on Take Me Out ever, as Jodie Marsh’s ex and would-be suitor Damion Merry actually managed to insult every single girl on the popular dating show.
Even host Paddy McGuiness struggled to keep a straight face, as arrogant Damion continued to put his foot in it with a whole host of ill-judged remarks last Saturday night. By the time it came to the final round, there were only two Take Me Out contestants still with their lights on – although that was only due to the fact that they could no longer turn them off.
In case the women weren’t already dreading the possibility of a date with Damion , he proceeded to make matters worse by informing Paddy that the girl he wanted had already turned her light off.
Paddy warned Damion: "You've got one question, don't make it an awkward one..."
To which the would-be suitor strangely asked: "Alright girls, if I was stuck on the Isle of Fernando and I could only take one thing it would be a meerkat...what would you take and why?"
The audience burst into laughter as leggy blonde Steph replied: “I would have a really good answer for this, if I liked the lad.”
Despite his embarrassingly disastrous appearance, Damion managed to walk away from the show with a date with blonde bombshell Chelsea Stewart, although she obviously had no interest in dating him whatsoever.
The pair were flown off for an extravagant date on the island of Fernando’s, but Chelsea has since confessed that she “took one for the team” as spending time with Damion was nothing short of hell.
She said to The Sun: “He kept putting his foot in it. I didn't want to go, the way he'd acted. He was so arrogant. He tried to compliment me but realised he wasn't going to get anywhere.”
The new series of Take Me Out has rapidly become must-see TV, regularly bringing in an audience of over five million on Saturday nights, and as a testament to its popularity the YouTube video of Damion’s appearance has attracted over one million views.
