Following the shock sacking of X Factor USA judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, a whole host of divas have been lined to take their place, and the newest name in the hat is Black Eyed Peas singer and occasional actress Stacy Ann Ferguson, better known as Fergie.
Black Eyed Peas bandmate Will.i.am has already started filming BBC’s singing talent show The Voice, and it appears that Fergie felt a little jealous of his new role and would like to follow suit, admitting that she would love to be considered for a judging position on the X Factor USA.
At last night’s Grammy Awards, the 36-year-old singer, who wore a bright orange lace dress and visible black underwear, spoke to Extra on the red carpet and confessed: “[Joining the X Factor US] that would be something I would love to do. I mean, timing is everything because if I did that show I would want to give 110% to those contestants. That’s what they deserve. Maybe someday.”
Reportedly Fergie was one of the favourites to join the show when it started last year, but walked away from the show at the last minute due to her touring schedule clashing with filming the show, and was subsequently replaced by Paula Abdul.
Although Fergie is keen to join the show, it could potentially make things even more strained with bandmate Will.i.am, who has made no secret of his dislike for X Factor boss Simon Cowell, after he sacked his close friend Cheryl Cole, who he now manages.
Will.i.am has even admitted to trying to get Cheryl on The Voice just to annoy Simon, and so if Fergie does join rival show X Factor USA we anticipate the band taking an even longer extended break.
