Brit soul singer Beverley Knight had paid tribute to Whitney Houston who passed away at the weekend.
Appearing on this morning's Daybreak, Knight emphasised the huge influence Houston had on other female artists:
"I cannot overstate the importance of her technical vocal ability in impacting on not only my life, but on the lives of just about every single artist that has come since she arrived on the scene."
Beverley went on to admit that the superstar's downfall in recent years was evident. After watching Whitney perform three years ago at a fundraiser concert Knight said "it was obvious from the first line she sang that there was a major issue. It was apparent that her vocal range was diminished. Within a certain area she was fine, but the minute she stepped out of that area, she was in trouble."
The Brit singer was so upset by the erratic performance that she "left in tears because as a singer I just couldn't hear that – I couldn't hear that woman like that."
