Silence was golden at last night's Bafta Awards as 'The Artist' swept the board collecting seven of the coverted film trophies.
The black and white homage to the silent era won major awards including Best Film and Best Actor for leading man Jean Dujardin. The film also picked up awards for Directing, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Music and Costume Design. It's closest rival, British thriller 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' only managed to pick up two awards out of a possible eleven.
Director of The Artist, Micahael Hazanavicius was overwhelmed by the film's success but managed to thank one of the night's biggest stars: "Thank you. I'm so proud that Brad Pitt pronounced my name so well."
The director also accepted the award for Best Original Screenplay, exclaiming her was "very surprised because most people thought that there was no script because there was no dialogue. So the British people are very clever."
After last night's success in London, 'The Artist' looks set to triumph at this year's Oscars which take place in LA later this month.
