Michael Fassbender picked up the award for Best Actor at the Irish Film and Television Awards for his role in 'Shame' last night.
The ‘Dangerous Method’ star was overjoyed to recieve the award at the ceremony in Dublin last night (Feb 11).
The actor, who plays a sex addict alongside Carey Mulligan in the film, beat favourite Brendan Gleeson to the award for his role in ‘The Guard’ which was the big winner of the night, scooping five awards.
Chris O’Dowd picked up the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Bridesmaids. It is the second award he has won this week for the role after picking up the Evening Standard Film Award for Best Actor on Wednesday.
The Irish 34 year-old could make it three in a row as he is also up for the Best Actor Award at tonight’s BAFTA’s in London.
The awards were attended by stars including Colin Farrell, Jonathan Rhys Myers and Josh Hartnett.
