Vanessa Hudgens has revealed that she lived in a homeless shelter for a fortnight in preparation for her role in 'Gimme Shelter'.
The film will see her play a teenager left pregnant and homeless. 'High School Musical' it ain't.
Speaking to chat show host Rachael Ray, she explained: "I actually went and stayed in a shelter for two weeks before I started filming.
"I lived there with all the girls, with all the kids, so I think that it's really interesting because you find so much more about yourself."
She added: "I actually cut my own hair for this movie. I did that to myself."
Vanessa's latest film, family adventure 'Journey 2 The Mystery Island', entered the UK Box Office charts at No. 2 behind 'Chronicle' last weekend.
She also recently admitted that a new tattoo was fake.
