Katy Perry and Russell Brand reportedly stand by their decision to refuse a prenuptial agreement before their marriage.
The popstar and comedian announced their divorce at the end of 2011 after 14 months. They came to an agreement on the division of their assets earlier this week before reaching a final settlement.
TMZ now claims to have heard from inside sources that the couple were confident before tying the knot that, in the event of a split, they would be able to sort any "money, life and religion" issues without too much hassle.
"Russell is a very simple person who doesn't need much to make him happy," insiders said. "He would never take money that [Katy] earned. That's not Russell.
"And if it was the other way around, Katy wouldn't have taken it either. They respect each other too much."
Russell was recently forced to stop a stand-up show due to ill-health.
