A representative for Cheryl Cole has confirmed that the Girls Aloud star has launched legal action against Now magazine for the lies it printed about her so-called "relationship" with So Solid Crew's MC Harvey.
The star has made no secret of her upset on Twitter, saying "I don't know when I became so naïve but even after 10 yrs in this industry i am still shocked that people will tell soul destroying lies to benefit themselves #sadbuttrue".
Today, a statement from her representatives says: "Cheryl Cole has today commenced legal proceedings in London against the publishers of Now magazine as a result of its two articles about her alleged "secret romance" with Michael Harvey.
"Cheryl's lawyers have asked to see Mr Harvey's alleged e-mails which the magazine says are "proof" of the "romance" but it claims not to have them in its possession. Mr Harvey's claims are denied by Cheryl and she looks forward to seeing both him and the magazine in Court at the very earliest opportunity."
It was reported earlier this week that Harvey had "backtracked" on his claims, insisting he never said he had a romantic relationship with the singer.
