If rumours are to be believed, the National Portrait Gallery could soon be gaining a brand-new picture of their patron. We can't wait to see Kate Middleton on canvas!

Kate Middleton broke with tradition after refusing to sit for a portrait following her wedding to Prince William in April. Everyone was upset, not least of all the artist; well who wouldn't want Kate to sit for them? She's already as pretty as a picture!

However, it seems that the former Miss Middleton is in talks for her first official portrait. Sandy Nairne, the gallery director, spilled the beans to the Evening Standard earlier today:

"It's very early days, but we've started a discussion. It will be at least the summer before there's anything concrete and we can start to look for an artist...It's very exciting. She came to see us last September when she was deciding which organisations to support. She was fizzing with intelligent questions."

Hurray!

We wonder who'll paint it? We wonder when it will be ready? Most importantly, WHAT is she going to WEAR?

We guess we'll just have to wait and see for now.

In the meantime, check out how Kate wowed on the red carpet at the War Horse premiere...
