Tom Hardy has confessed that he feels "lucky" to have landed the role as a spy in 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' because Michael Fassbender was actually the first choice.
The 'Dark Knight Rises' actor, who stars alongside Oscar-nominated Gary Oldman as well as Colin Firth in the British spy flick, reckons that Fassbender had been the original choice of director Tomas Alfredson but he wasn't free.
In an interview with TotalFilm.com, Hardy said: "That's not true with me, is it? Michael Fassbender was his first choice, I think. But Michael wasn't available, I got very lucky. So in a way I was his first choice, I was first choice after Michael."
British agent Ricki Tarr is miles away from Tom's Batman character of Bane, but he enjoyed the part.
"I hadn't read the book or seen the TV series so at first I wasn't really sure of the story," he said.
"Ricki's a low level operator who is the hired muscle, he does all the dirty work. He comes across a piece of information which is gold but this leads to his entire world falling apart."
Do you think Tom did a good job? We know he's a good actor - especially after his 'pretend' mood with Johnathan Ross last week!
