Robert Pattinson continues to ease himself out of the 'Twilight' phenomenon with a leading role in new period drama 'Bel Ami', a new poster for which has just been unveiled.
The film, due in UK cinemas on March 9, also stars Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristen Scott Thomas and is based on the novel by Guy de Maupassant.
The film chronicles the rise of penniless ex-soldier Georges Duroy (Pattinson) through the ranks of the 1890s Parisian elite and is billed as a tale of ambition, power and seduction.
The star said of his role: "Most fictional characters are driven by some target, but he is like a reverse character. He's so content to do nothing and thinks everything should just be given to him. But if someone slights him, or directs any insult at him, the most overwhelming energy grabs him and he turns into this absolute devil who will do anything."
Pattinson's other forthcoming films include drama 'Cosmopolis' and, of course, 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2'.
