Robert Pattinson has admitted that without 'Twilight' he would not have the attention or interest in his film career something he feels has it's good and bad points.

Despite a role in the fourth Harry Potter film, ‘Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire’ Robert confesses that no-one would care about him if he wasn't Edward Cullen in the vampire drama.

Speaking to The Herald Scotland the actor said: “Doing something like 'Twilight opens' doors and it closes others. You can say, 'Oh if I was still unknown, then no one would judge me.’”

"But at the same time, nobody would give a sh-t either. It's a weird little balance." He added.

The 25 year-old is no doubt referring to the intense media scrutiny that he and his co-star Kristen Stewart are under. The pair, who have been notoriously private since they started their off screen romance have yet to confirm that they are an item.

The London born actor confessed that he took his latest role in 'Bel Ami' because it was completely different to his 'Twilight' character, good guy Edward.

Despite playing a vampire, mild-mannered, romantic Edward is worlds apart from the womaniser he plays in the costume drama.

He joked: "There is something quite fun about going from Edward Cullen to playing a guy who pretty much abuses women to get money out of them.”

"Edward so wouldn't approve. So, yes, I thought that was a funny irony.”
