LA Reid has been confirmed to return for the second season of X Factor USA just days after fellow judges Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones were axed from the show.
According to The Daily Mail the Fox Network has agreed to the record executive returning to the show though his salary is yet to be confirmed. Paul Abdul confirmed that she had been fired from the show on Tuesday and in a statement took a stab at her close relationship with Simon Cowell.
A statement released by the star said: “Yes, it’s true; I won’t be returning to The X Factor next season. I’ve learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations.”
Neither Simon or Fox have confirmed that LA Reid will return but the music mogul did thank the three stars that have been axed from the show, in a statement last week.
It read: “I want to say a massive thank you to Paula, Nicole and Steve for being part of The X Factor last year.”
“I'm sure all three are going to have massive success in what they do next, but now is the time to thank them all for everything they did last year.”
The judging panel on both the US and UK X Factor’s have become a matter of contention. Cheryl Cole lasted only a matter of weeks on the US version after she left her position on the British show.
Simon Cowell has also hinted that he does not think Gary Barlow will be returning this year on the UK show despite his popularity with viewers. Speculation is rife over who will fill the two empty seats on the X Factor USA panel with rumours that Beyonce and Mariah Carey are in the running.
Madonna, who was also reportedly being considered has publicly denied that she has is joining the show as she is too busy with other projects.
