Amy Winehouse's family are seeking advice on their next move after it has been revealed that the coroner that investigated the singer's death had resigned as she was not qualified for the position.
The inquest that was overseen by Suzanne Greenaway could be declared "illegal" after it was revealed that she did not meet requirements after her husband gave her the job.
Amy died suddenly in July 2011, and her death was put down to misadventure but The Independent reports that Winehouse's family have released a statement about the controversy.
"The Winehouse family is taking advice on the implications of this and will decide if any further discussion with the authorities is needed," it read.
Mitch Winehouse also personally tweeted: "Don't worry about coroner nonsense. We are all ok."
Greenaway resigned in November because she did not meet the requirements which are needed for the appointment of coroners and now the 30 cases that she oversaw, could be declared illegal, if they are challenged in the High Court.
Dr Scott Reid, her husband, who gave Greenaway the job, has said: "In November it became apparent I'd made an error in the appointment process. While I am confident that all of the inquests handled were done so correctly, I apologise if this matter causes distress."
