Kevin Federline has admitted that he would like to step out of Britney Spears' shadow.
The former backing dancer was married to the popstar from 2004 to 2006, and fathered two children with her. She has since become engaged to current boyfriend Jason Trawick.
"I dont hate [being branded 'the former Mr Spears'], but I don't like living in that shadow," he told the Herald Sun. "I've accepted that being married to her will always be part of my life, but would love for people to admire me for myself."
Federline also added: "Britney and I have come a long way. We get along really well and do everything we have to do to make sure our kids are raised right."
Discussing the heart problems that put him in hopsital last week, he revealed that he is more determined than ever to succeed on celebrity weight loss show Excess Baggage, which he is currently filming in Australia.
"One of the reasons why I'm doing this is because I don't want to worry about episodes like what happened [last week]," he said. "The whole thing just makes me real cautious about what I'm doing and what I'm putting my body through.
"I feel great [now] but it was pretty scary. I'm glad I'm okay. I'm ready to get back to work. If anything, it makes me wanna push myself to get healhier in the future so I dont have to worry about that again."
