Halle Berry is currently locked in a bitter custody battle with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubrey over their three-year-old daughter Nahla and to make matters worse the actress is footing his legal bills as well as her own.
The Academy Award-winning actress has been battling with the Canadian model over custody since they split in April 2010 and this week returned to court where she was denied a restraining order against her former beau to keep him away from their daughter.
If this did not irritate the 40-year-old enough according to Halle is also footing the bill for the entire court costs that are sure to be mounting up as the fight continues.
An insider told RadarOnline: "Halle has been ordered by the judge to pay Gabriel's legal fees. It's not uncommon in custody dispute cases when the parents aren't married, to have the person that earns more money, pay for the other side’s legal bills."
“It's so that both sides will have a level playing field, and fees in custody disputes are racked up very quickly," they added.
Halle's request for a restraining order was denied until the outcome of a criminal investigation into Gabriel's behaviour have been decided.
The 36 year-old is being investigated for battery and child endangerment charges. The model denies pushing their court appointed nanny who was holding Nahla at the time.
The source added: “The judge just wasn't convinced that Gabriel was a threat to his daughter. It's an untenable situation for Halle and Gabriel, but they are going to have to find a way to work out their differences over how Nahla is going to be raised.”
The judge ordered both Halle and Aubrey to attend parenting classes and advised that daughter Nahla should attend counselling session.
If they do not work it out soon it could prove to be a very costly situation for Halle.
