George Michael has revealed that he's rescheduling his cancelled tour dates for September.

The 'Careless Whisper' singer, who was rushed to hospital in November with pneumonia, had to to axe his Symphonica tour because of the illness that left him recovering in Austria for weeks.

Now, the singer is set to return to the stage for shows in Austria, France and the UK but he's having to push back the dates because of summer holidays.

George was back to health in time for Christmas last year, tweeted yesterday (January 30) that he was looking at potential dates where he would debut "brand new tracks" to make it up to fans who weren't able to see him last year.

"Realistically I can't see my vocal cords being ready till the summer, but then I have to think about people losing out if... they are on their summer hols," he tweeted. "So September seems the most likely. Sorry about that everyone. Rest assured I will use the time wisely... as in... working on improving the show, mixing the live tracks, finishing brand new tracks."

The singer admitted that his recent illness has also helped him write some good material: "Pneumonia may have been a b**tard thing to go thru, but normally when I suffer you guys benefit somehow, don't you think...That's just how it goes in GM world. God's little joke. Long may it continue :)."

He later joked: "Spent half the day trying to come up with something that rhymed with pneumonia. Best I can do is bone ya... so true, so true.... :)."
