'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' has become the most successful film in the action series after raking in $571 million at the box office.
The fourth movie of the popular franchise, which sees Tom Cruise reprise his role as agent Ethan Hunt, has made the millions worldwide since its release last December.
According to Contactmusic.com, vice chairman of Paramount, Rob Moore said that he was thrilled with the success of the Brad Bird-directed film which also stars Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg.
"Brad Bird, Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams and the entire team who worked on 'M:I4' created an incredibly entertaining film, one that fans worldwide embraced in record numbers," he said.
The movie surpasses its three predecessors including 'Mission: Impossible II,' the next most successful film which made $546 million worldwide.
In the latest instalment of the series Ethan Hunt sets off on a mission with his new team to clear the name of the Impossible Missions Force after the unofficial branch of the CIA is shut down over allegations in the bombing of the Kremlin.
