Denise Welch has spoken out about how she felt depressed and lonely in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Denise Welch may have won Big Brother, but it has been reported that she was initially unsure about entering the house, as her son Matthew was against her taking part. Why? Because he was worried about her mental health.

Denise's son was worried that taking part in the Channel 5 show - which she went on to win - would be have a negative effect on her emotional wellbeing.

The 'Waterloo Road' told the Daily Star that, despite his misgivings, her son is very proud of her behaviour in the CBB house:

"My eldest didn't want me to do it - he worries a lot about my mental health problems and my drinking. But I saw him after leaving the house and he said he's proud of the way I behaved, which means the world to me."

However, Denise did consult a therapist during her stay in the house because of her volatile relationship with Michael Madsen. The pair's constant sparring was something of a hot-topic in the tabloids.

Denise said that the psychologist helped her keep it together:

"There was one time in the house when I asked to see a psychologist. He soon became a security blanket for me - he had to keep reminding me it was a TV show and not my real house."

And it seems as if there is no love lost between Denise and Michael...

"If I never see him again I don't give a s**t."

Wowza!

Fancy getting nostalgic? Let's look back at the celebrities entering the house...
