Brad Pitt has opened up about the dark days of his rise to fame, speaking candidly about drug abuse and depression.
Brad Pitt has a charmed life; smoking hot looks, the gorgeous Angelina Jolie at his side, a brood of impossibly pretty children and an Oscar nomination for his role in hit film 'Moneyball'. But things haven't always been so rosy.
Speaking openly to the Hollywood Reporter, he revealed it has taken him a great deal of time and effort to get to this positive stage in his life:
"I was majoring in depression. I was doing the same thing every night and numbing myself to sleep - the same routine. Couldn't wait to get home and hide out. But that feeling of unease was growing and one night I just said, 'This is a waste.'"
Brad also spoke out about his pot smoking past while guesting on 'Real Time With Bill Maher' where he was reminded of a time when he could roll joint after perfect joint, all night long.
"I was smoking way too much dope."
Brad gave up on marijuana after witnessing the poverty in Yugoslavia and Morocco. However, he did manage to crack a joke about how drugs turned him "into a doughnut" - we bet he'd have tasted just as yummy as a jam filled dough treat too!
