Jessica Chastain was sitting in the front row of a fashion show when she recieved the phone call informing her of her Oscar nomination, it has been revealed.
The star, who is a contender in the Supporting Actress category for her role in 'The Help', was on the other side of the Atlantic when the nominees were announced.
30-year-old Jessica had a busy 2011, appearing in several critically-acclaimed films including 'Take Shelter', 'Coriolanus', 'The Debt' and 'The Tree Of Life'. The latter competes against 'The Help' in the Best Picture category at next month's ceremony.
She was at the Armani Prive haute couture presentation in Paris when she answered her phone, knowing who was on the other end.
Seated between Colin Firth's wife Livia and Cameron Diaz, she recieved an applause from the audience when the news became known.
Livia tweeted: "Super congrats #JessicaChastain sitting next to me #Armani and just heard about her #Oscars nominations!"
Chastain faces her co-star Octavia Spencer for the trophy, as well as Melissa McCarthy ('Bridesmaids'), Janet McTeer ('Albert Nobbs') and Berenice Bejo ('The Artist').
Spencer joked that she was hungover when she heard the news.
