After splashing out $10 million on a lavish refurbishment of his 40/40 nightclub in New York, Jay-Z has received bad news - it was ordered to be shut down.
Just earlier this week, Jay-Z made his first public appearance at the nightclub following the birth of his daughter Blue Ivy but it was closed down after its party because it failed a health code inspection.
On Thursday (January 19), 40/40 was ordered to close down after inspectors for that it had 69 violations, which included hot food left on a counter, a chef using bare hands to mix salsa and a dangerously warm refrigerator.
An eatery needs just 28 violations to get a C grade from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and 84 per cent of restaurants in the city have an A or B sanitation grade.
"If you have a walk-in place with food like this, you put a hell of a lot of people at risk," a source told the New York Post. "A night of dinner and dancing should not include the risk of contracting food-borne illness."
The club was allowed to reopen on Friday night (January 20), with a spokesperson insisting that there "was no interruption in service or sales".
