Three and a half years after the brutal murder of Jennifer Hudson's family, a trial date has finally been set.
The brave singer's mother, brother and nephew were all slaughtered by William Balfour, who was charged with first-degree murder.
It has been confirmed that jury selection will begin on April 9, ahead of the start of the trial on April 23, reports E! Online.
Balfour, the estranged husband of Jennifer's sister Julia, committed the crimes in what is thought to have been a jealous rage on October 24, 2008.
He pleaded not guilty to the killings, as well as to aggravated kidnapping and home invasion.
The trial has been repeatedly delayed at the request of his lawyers, but today the judge rejected their latest plea.
Jennifer has recently told how she came close to being at the scene of the crime.
Hopefully justice can now be served.
Hudson bids farewell
