Katherine Heigl has revealed that she wants to return to Grey's Anatomy.
The actress, who was in the show's original line-up in 2005 and won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2007, starred in 109 episodes before making her exit in 2010 amid reports of unrest with creator Shonda Rhimes.
"I’ve told them I want to [return]," she told E!, adding that producers have to balance "about 40 different storylines, so I don’t know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes."
Of her character Dr Izzie Stevens she added: "I really, really, really want to see where she is. I just want to know what happened to her, and where she went, and what she’s doing now."
Heigl recently admitted that she "loves food too much" to look like Jennifer Aniston.
Grey's Anatomy is currently airing its eighth season.
