The Sex And The City Girls maybe getting older but that doesn’t mean their adventures are over, as American network CW have given the go-ahead for a series based on a young Carrie Bradwshaw.
According to Entertainment Weekly the CW network, who are also responsible for another New York hit Gossip Girl, have commissioned a pilot called The Carrie Diaries based on SATC creator Candace Bushnell’s novel. The series will follow Carrie as she arrives in New York in the 1980s as a young woman.
According to Amy Harries, who wrote the pilot for the show and also worked on the original Sex And The City, said that the series sees Carrie: “asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family, while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.”
As of yet no cast members have been announced but whoever takes on the role of young Carrie will have very big and expensive designer shoes to fill.
The girls were briefly shown as young twenty-somethings in a flashback to the eighties in the second 'Sex And The City' film. Since then speculation has been rife that a prequel film or series was in the pipeline.
Will it work though, or are you happy to leave the adventures of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha in the past?
