Mark Wahlberg has issued an apology for his "insensitive" 9/11 comments that were branded "disrespectful" by a widow.

'The Fighter' actor recently gave an interview where he insisted that things would have been very different had he been on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Centre on September 11 2001.

"If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn't have went down like it did," he said in an interview with Men's Journal. "There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, 'OK, we're going to land somewhere safely, don't worry.'"

One widow of a 9/11 victim said that his words were "disrespectful". Now, the actor has said sorry and claims he was "irresponsible".

"To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with, and to suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible," he said.

"I deeply apologise to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive. It was certainly not my intention."

What do you think of his comments? Do you accept his apology?
